Awards & Recognition

Over the years, Kingfisher Pension Trustee Limited has won a number of awards recognising the work the Trustees have done for their members’ benefits.

Pension Quality Mark is an independent quality standard which recognises employers who help their staff to save for their retirement by providing a good quality defined contribution (DC) pension scheme. Further information can be found at www.pensionqualitymark.org.uk.

We qualified because:

  • as an employer we offer to contribute up to 14% of your pensionable salary towards building up your pension pot
  • we have arrangements in place to ensure the scheme is well run and reviewed on a regular basis so that it remains fit for purpose and suited to your needs
  • we talk to you about the scheme regularly – encouraging you to join or stay in the scheme, and giving you information about the important decisions you need to make.

This award was first granted in 2012, and has been granted each year since.

DC Pension Scheme of Year

This award recognises that Defined Contribution (DC) pension provision has evolved beyond recognition in the areas of investment, communication and scheme design. It is therefore awarded to DC schemes that have developed their proposition with a clear focus on what really matters – meeting member needs.

This category is designed to identify the Scheme with the most successful investment strategies and have provided evidence of how the Scheme has successfully delivered strong returns in line with the Scheme’s investment objectives.

DC Scheme of the Year (for companies with 5,000 and more staff)

This award recognises the Scheme which demonstrates innovation, and what they have done to improve member outcomes and member experiences, investment management, communication/engagement, governance, administration and at retirement processes to the benefit of their membership

Best Financial Education Initiative

This award is given to the Scheme which has introduced the most effective financial education programme.

European Communication Award 2015

This award recognises the firm that has proved itself in the field of communication at a time when getting the right messages across is key to enhancing member uptake and improving the overall member experience.

Best DC Plan Design

Best DC Pension Plan

This award recognises Employers who best support their employees in planning for a comfortable retirement. This category assesses the quality of DC pension plans such as:

  • Investment strategy and contribution structure
  • Ongoing communications and financial education/guidance
  • Support for employees at retirement
  • Overall scheme governance

Best Long-term Investment Strategy – Gold Award

This award recognises the firm that has shown excellence in their adopted investment strategy and its evolution over the past years and their future plans.

European Communication Award 2014

This award recognises the firm that has proved itself in the field of communication at a time when getting the right messages across is key to enhancing member uptake and improving the overall member experience.

Pension Scheme Trustee of the Year

This award is given to Trustee Boards that have done the most for their Scheme. They need to show particular problems or challenges the Trustee Board have helped overcome and how they did this, along with innovations they helped the Scheme put in place.

Defined Benefit Scheme of the Year (asset value of over £500m – £2.5bn)

This award recognises the Scheme which demonstrates innovation, and what they have done in terms of member outcomes, investment management, communication/engagement, governance, administration and at retirement processes to the benefit of their membership.

Best DC Initiative of the Year

This award is designed to recognise excellence in the fast evolving world of defined contribution pensions. The Judges particularly look for evidence that initiatives have met the needs of the workforce served by the scheme.

Best Trustee Training Initiative of the Year

This award exists to identify best practice in trustee training initiatives. The Judges look for evidence that schemes give training the serious attention that it deserves and go the extra mile on training.

Most Effective Internal Communications Campaign
